N-xt Calcium - Focused on quality from the inside out
A strong skin, less scab and a vital plant start with the right nutrition at the right time. In both potato and onion cultivation, calcium plays a key role in this. But ... only if it is absorbable by the plant.
N-xt Calcium was specially developed to offer readily available calcium in the early growth phase. Precisely at this stage, when the first hair roots emerge, calcium is essential. It is also precisely the stage at which, for bulbous and tuberous plants, the final quality is already largely determined.
Many growers try to release calcium with acidifying fertilizers or by watering around this stage of the crop. But those methods often affect soil life or are difficult to implement at the right time. With N-xt Calcium, that's not necessary.
How does it work?
N-xt Calcium is sprayed after planting, before tilling, so that the fertilizer reaches the root zone. For onions, the best period is at about 10-15 cm of growth from the first pipe. There the calcium is gradually released and remains available for uptake. The plant can actively absorb the minerals when it needs them, exactly where it counts: at the root tips. This is also the perfect time for the extra ammonium nitrogen given with this application in many crops.
For example, the potato plant can use this nitrogen gradually and actively (read independently) to support root growth and stolon formation. And an onion crop only has its first nitrogen needs at this stage. 'Two birds with one stone'!
