Sulfur is indispensable for healthy plant growth. It helps better utilize nitrogen and plays an important role in protein formation. But where sufficient sulfur used to be available from the air, today it is not. The sulfur deficiency on many plots requires targeted adjustments, and that's exactly where Ferti-S (vlb) comes in.

Sulfur shortage? Time to adjust

In the 1980s, more than 40 kg of sulfur (S) per hectare was still falling from the sky. Today it is less than 10 kg. Grassland alone extracts an average of 35 kg S per hectare per year. So without supplementation, the crop quickly runs into deficiencies. And those deficiencies cost yield and quality.

What makes Ferti-S (vlb) unique?

Ferti-S (vlb) Thiopaq contains elementary sulfur of biological origin. This sulfur is created in special biofilters (Thiopaq systems) in which bacteria are active. The result is a natural, fine sulfur particle that is easily absorbed by the plant both through the leaves and through the soil.

The unique formulation of N-xt Fertilizers creates a stable suspension with as much as 1250 grams of SO₃ per kg of product. This makes Ferti-S a powerful and practical solution.

Application and Advice

In Grasslands, sulfur plays an increasingly important role with the ever limiting measures around nitrogen. Sulfur is an important component of protein which is considered a key component in grass production. In addition to sulfur corrections at the soil level (via a good Albrecht Soil Analysis), adjustments can also be made perfectly at the crop level.

Mixing 3-5 ltr/ha of Ferti-S (vlb) through the N-xt Soil Fertilizer in grassland is a nice combination and provides a period of 1 to 2 cuts with sufficient extra sulfur.

TIP: always make sure your sulfur level in the soil is in order or being worked on, always use elemental sulfur for your soil and crop.

Application and Advice.

In outcrop production, Ferti-S (vlb) acts not only as a nutrient, but also as a more important source of resistance. Always in chemical disease control there is a sulfur component in the role against fungal infections, so why would the most natural variant not be suitable for this as well? We see in practice that the Ferti-S (vlb) gives this as a nice side effect. It is important that there is good coverage and this can then be perfectly combined with the N-xt foliar fertilizer (where this is also important).

Advice is to mix 0.5 to max 1 ltr Ferti-S (vlb) per hectare through the N-xt foliar fertilizer. Spray with max 200 ltr of water and a fine drop to keep the nice distribution well covered on the leaves. This can be sprayed weekly in a mix.

NOTE: For higher doses of sulfur over the crop, spray this separately! Then spray 2-4 ltr/ha sec.

Advisory dosages Ferti-S (vlb).

Ferti-S (vlb) has a number of important concerns. As an additive in the N-xt Soil Fertilizer it can be mixed very well, but we must be careful with a too high concentration as a mixture in foliar fertilizers (max 1 ltr/ha). This is due to the property of Ferti-S in a mixture of products and in combination with the nozzle size.

As a sec application, i.e. spraying Ferti-S as foliar application only, it can easily be applied at 3 to 4 ltr/ha.

For the correction of sulfur in the soil, we recommend our Ferti-S granular fertilizers. These are also organic products that allow a higher dose of elemental sulfur. Feel free to ask us for more information on this.
