Applications in cereal cultivation

The above strategy shows at each stage which minerals are crucial for healthy grain cultivation. The N-xt liquid fertilizers were specially developed for this purpose. Their efficiency saves you a lot of nitrogen. Important is the unique symbiosis between N-xt fertilizers and soil biology. Additives such as Ferti-N, Ferti-Release and Ferti-Vital contribute to this in particular.

Frequently Asked Questions

How early can I spray an N-xt soil fertilizer in winter cereals?

In winter cereals, the first nitrogen fertilization is often given as early as February. The soil temperature is often not high enough for nitrogen uptake. However, the N-xt fertilizer has the great advantage that due to the organic complex compound it is not subject to leaching and/or volatilization. It can therefore be sprayed very early (if the soil allows it), so that the crop can actively absorb nutrients at all times.

Always spray the N-xt Soil Fertilizer with a 6- or 7-hole nozzle to obtain the right concentration of fertilizer and also a good distribution. This will ensure a long lasting effect without the fertilizer volatilizing and damaging your crop.

Which caps are best to use to spray N-xt fertilizer in grasslands and cereals?

The nozzles we recommend are a 6-hole or 7-hole nozzle. These come in various brands, the best known ones we have a lot of experience with are the Albuz 6-hole nozzle or the Teejet 7-hole nozzle. These give a nice spray pattern of jets and good distribution. We want a concentration of fertilizer (in a stream) but also a good distribution. Thus, we create a long-lasting effect of the fertilizer and prevent damage to the crop (from direct contact), the fertilizer will reach the soil much easier through the jet.

N-xt Soil Fertilizer

The first nitrogen application in cereals can be done perfectly with an N-xt Soil Fertilizer. Winter cereals begin to resume growth in February and slowly require some absorbable nitrogen. In summer cereals that have just been sown, a first dose can be applied perfectly. Big advantage of an N-xt complex fertilizer is that it does not leach out or volatilize, so conditions are somewhat less important. Of course, it must be possible to drive over the land decently, without ruts.

Advice:

350 ltr/ha N-xt N24 S B Zn

  • Feel free to give 100 kg of nitrogen for winter cereals (or the full requirement in summer cereals)
  • Spray with a 7-hole nozzle (as for grassland)
  • Other formulations are possible according to deficiencies of trace elements or other deficiencies.

2

Ferti-Release + Ferti-N

Ferti-Release promotes soil biology in the early stages of the season and in particular contributes to the uptake of phosphate, potash and trace elements from the given slurry and your soil.

Advice:

Spray 0.5 ltr/ha of Ferti-Release.

Because this is an organic product we do not recommend combining this with the early application of the N-xt Soil Fertilizer because the soil temperature is not yet sufficient then.

It is better to spray this at the end of March - April and then in combination with Ferti-N. This has several major advantages...

Ferti-N

This is because both of these products promote cooperation with the biology in the soil and the plant. Ferti-N makes air nitrogen plant available. Research shows that this Azotobactor bacteria can easily make 30 kg N/ha plant available, greatly increasing nitrogen efficiency (after all, it is not physical nitrogen you are purchasing).

Also, any slurry application with the drag hose will be processed more efficiently and/or the dosage of a subsequent nitrogen application can be reduced.

Advice:

Spray 0.5 ltr/ha Ferti-N (so together with 0.5 ltr Ferti-Release)

Points of attention:

  • Spray with plenty of water, at least 400 ltr/ha
  • Do not spray in full sun, best in the evening or overcast day

3

Slurry or N-xt fertilizer

At this stage (before erosion) it is best to be able to apply a small slurry application with the drag hose. It promotes eradication and the organic minerals come into their own nicely in the grain crop. Especially in combination with the products mentioned in point 2. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to slurry in his or her cereal crops and grains are often spread for a 2nd nitrogen application.

TIPS:

  • With an optimal soil balance of mineral ratios in your soil, dare to reduce this nitrogen application slightly.
  • Especially with an executed application as described in point 2!
  • The additional foliar sprays (see points 4 and 5) will contribute to healthy growth and yield of your grain.

Advice:

If the crop has hardened off or a shower of rain is expected, then a 2nd nitrogen application can be fine with;

175 ltr/ha N-xt N24S* (=50 kg N).

  • Always spray with a 6 or 7 hole nozzle
  • Feel free to spray with some extra water (to promote leaf runoff and to bring the fertilizer to the soil)
  • If the cereal crop is already overdeveloped (grows dense and upwards), pay extra attention to the indicated conditions!

For advice on your current situation, feel free to let us know.
*) We are also happy to advise you on the possibilities of other formulations.

N-xt Leaf

The N-xt Foliar Fertilizer (possibly combined with disease control) is in cereal cultivation is a perfect way to keep the crop healthy and vital. At the same time, foliar sprays offer a better alternative to standard over-fertilization with stkstof, often in the form of KAS (granules). The fact is that nitrate fertilizer drives the aboveground parts and fills them with extra water to dilute nitrate levels in the plant. Thus, it actually becomes a magnet for lice and fungi and thus pathogenic to the plant. Water, energy and trace elements are needed extra to restore this again.

So it is advisable to apply an efficient form of nitrogen through the leaf. Various formulations can be used in cereal cultivation, in practice we recommend the N-xt Leaf formulation N-xt N18 Mg S or the more extensive formulation: N-xt N18 B Ca Mg Mn B Cu Zn Mo Si

Advice:

The mix below can be added to disease control, but also possibly sprayed separately as a feeding schedule to keep the crop healthy and vital.

40 ltr/ha N-xt Leaf
+
2 ltr/ha Ferti-Vital
+
0.5 ltr Ferti-S (vlb)

Ferti-S is a biological elemental sulfur suspension.

Ferti-Vital

Ferti-Vital is a powerful biostimulant that activates the natural defenses of plants. It increases resistance to both biotic stress (such as fungi, bacteria and insects) and abiotic stress (such as heat, drought, cold, hail, wind or machine damage). Ferti-Vital is the only foliar fertilizer within the Ferti-Line and works directly through the leaf on the plant.

Recommendation:

2 ltr/ha Ferti-Vital (as a one-time application)
1 ltr/ha Ferti-Vital (if sprayed several times in a schedule)

5

N-xt NKS

Potassium deficiencies are increasingly common in crops. Potash is essential for processes such as water regulation, photosynthesis, firmness and resilience. A deficiency not only leads to yield loss, but also affects quality.

N-xt NKS is a foliar fertilizer with potassium, little amide nitrogen and elemental sulfur in directly absorbable form. It improves yield and quality by:

  • Increased sugar and starch content (°Brix)

  • Better color formation (anthocyanins & carotenes)

  • Stronger skin quality (cell wall construction)

  • Resistance effect thanks to the biological sulphur component

  • Directly available amide nitrogen, without nitrate load

Use N-xt NKS from the moment the crop begins to fill its spikes.

Recommendation:

  • 3× 5 ltr/ha, spread over the second part of the growing season
  • Do not mix with crop protection agents

In a schedule with N-xt Foliar Fertilizer, we recommend alternating it with N-xt NKS from ear filling onwards. This will ensure an ideal balance of potash, nitrogen and trace elements for maximum yield and quality.

Did you know:

15 liters of N-xt NKS = 100 kg of patent potash.
That means at least 5× higher effectiveness than standard potash granular fertilizers.

After harvesting, it is important to stimulate soil life so that crop residues, especially straw residues, are rapidly decomposed and mineral sequestration is optimized.

Ferti-Soil

After harvesting, it is important to support the activity of biology so that crop residues, especially the woody stem parts of grain plants, are rapidly decomposed and mineral sequestration is optimized.

Ferti-Soil activates and supports this biology and ensures optimal humification processes.

Recommendation:

1 ltr/ha Ferti-Soil

Spray with plenty of water (400 ltr/ha) just before incorporation of crop residues and/or sowing of green manure.

7

Ferti-Life

An active soil biology also throughout the fall is very important. At this stage, the crop has been harvested and crop growth stops but the activity of your soil does not. Old crop and root residues are broken down, converted and stored in the soil(humification). After which, during the winter period, the soil structure can improve and conversions continue due to the (continued) fungal activity with Ferti-Life.

Advice:

25 ltr/ha Ferti-Life

  • Spray with the field sprayer after harvest or during/after sowing a green manure crop.
  • You can also spray in early spring (after clearing green manure or pulling up the land):

Recommendation is then 40 ltr/ha Ferti-Life

Ferti-Life creates the right conditions for fungal growth, a highly underestimated soil process that prepares your soil for a good start of the next season.

Did you know:

Soil life is always the first "to the table" in spring! So be aware of How we treat our soils in winter (but also in early spring). make sure that soil life can survive well in winter so that laid down minerals can mineralize nicely again in spring.
