Applying N-xt fertilisers to hayfields is easy with the field spray. You must use a 7-hole spray head to ensure the fertiliser is concentrated, but properly distributed over the plot. The standard method it to spray three times - once early in the spring when the crop is not yet in full growth (usually in March), the second time after the first cut, and once more after the third or fourth cut. The latter also depends on the amount of liquid manure that is available. Spraying after the cut is important and must be done as soon as possible after the grass has been removed from the plot.
